Fulshear Tree Preservation Ordinance Moves Forward

May 10, 2016: The City has received numerous calls regarding trees being removed on properties in and around Fulshear. Although the City does not currently have a tree protection ordinance in place, Fulshear City Council has appointed a citizen advisory committee that is working diligently to draft regulations for the Council’s consideration.

The City’s Tree Preservation Committee began meeting on January 27, 2016, and has met several times since then in working sessions open to the public. The Tree Preservation Committee expects to complete its work this summer and forward its recommendation to City Council.  It is important to note that City advisory committees may make recommendations to the City’s governing body (City Council), but do not have the ability to pass ordinances (laws).

When the Committee’s work is complete, the City will hold a Town Hall Meeting to gather public input on the proposed Tree Protection Ordinance before Council consideration. Interested individuals will also have the ability to be heard when City Council considers the item.
