The City of Fulshear adopted an ordinance (#2012-1079) on June 19, 2012 requiring all structures that have alarms to be permitted.

  • What is an alarm system?

    For the purposes of this Ordinance an alarm is defined as a device or system that transmits a signal intended to summon police in response to a burglary. This does not include an alarm installed on a vehicle nor a alarm that is designed to alert only the occupants within a structure.

  • How do I obtain an alarm permit?

    Complete the alarm permit application and submit the required fee to the City of Fulshear Alarm Detail Department, you can mail it to PO BOX 279, Fulshear Texas 77441 or bring it to our office located at 6611 W. Cross Creek Bend Ln., Fulshear Texas 77441.

  • When should I apply for an alarm permit?

    Before the alarm is in operation.

  • What is the fee?

    $50.00 for Residential Alarm

    $100 for Commercial Alarm (a separate permit is required for each alarm system)

  • How long is the permit good for?

    Permits are good one (1) year from the date of issuance.

  • How do I renew my alarm permit?

    No later than 30 days before the alarm permit expires submit a updated application with the required fee.

  • Can a permit be revoked?

    Yes, a permit can be revoked or refused by the City of Fulshear after 30 days by written notice if the applicant or alarm permit holder has

    1. Made a false statement on the application
    2. Fails to pay a fee or penalty assessed under the ordinance
    3. Had 8 or more false alarms during a 12 month period or
    4. Violated any of the terms as written in the Alarm Ordinance

  • How can I get my permit reinstated after it has been revoked by the City?

    The City of Fulshear can reinstate an alarm permit when the applicant or alarm permit holder has done the following:

    1. Has paid all fees and penalties
    2. Complies with the ordinance

  • How do False Alarm Fees work?

    You will be charged a fee if you have four (4) or more confirmed false alarms within a 12 month period. The police shall confirm that there is no cause for the alarm as a result of malfeasance or weather. If such determination is made, the alarm will be declared false. The fees associated with false alarms are detailed below:

    Residential Alarms:

    • For each response for the 1st thru the 3rd: NO FEE
    • For each response after the 3rd thru the 5th: $25.00
    • For each response after the 5th thru the 8th: $50.00
    • For each response after the 8th: $75.00

    Commercial Alarms:

    • For each response for the 1st thru the 3rd: NO FEE
    • For each response after the 3rd thru the 5th: $50.00
    • For each response after the 5th: $75.00

  • What if my alarm goes off due to weather issues?

    If the alarm is set off due to severe weather or there will not be a fee assessed.

  • What if I choose not to obtain an alarm permit?

    If a structure does not have an alarm permit and the City of Fulshear receives a notification to respond to an alarm, the Police will respond and the owner and occupants of the structure will receive written notification of non compliance which could result in penalties/fee of not more than $500.00 per occurrence.
