The City of Fulshear takes a proactive approach to integrated mosquito management by targeting mosquito larvae through the deployment of larvicide dunks and the development of habitats for natural mosquito predators such as Purple Marlins and bats. The City works closely with the Fort Bend County Health Department to monitor and test the local mosquito population at several sites in and around Fulshear. Should mosquito testing turn up any positives for mosquito-borne diseases, the City will work collaboratively with the County to step up prevention efforts, including spraying as required.

Preventing the spread of mosquito-borne illness and diseases is a collaborative effort, and residents and business owners alike must take proactive steps to help mitigate and eliminate mosquito habitats by adhering to the "4 Ds":

• Dawn/Dusk: limit activities outside at the times mosquitoes are most active.
• Dress: wear long sleeves and pants when outside.
• DEET: use repellent containing DEET.
• Drain: drain standing water in and around your property.

Mosquitoes can never be permanently eradicated, but we can work cooperatively to keep them (and the diseases they can carry) at bay. For residents wanting to take an additional step in prevention, larvicide dunks are available at City Hall, 6611 West Cross Creek Bend Ln, Fulshear, TX. Building Services has the ability to place the dunks in a pick up location at curbside. The dunks are available at one (1) packet per residence and can be picked up anytime between the hours of 7:30 AM and 3:30 PM. As a courtesy to our staff, please call in advance: 281-346-1796 to coordinate a pick up time. These dunks can be broken into smaller pieces and distributed in areas prone to standing water. They are also readily available at many retail stores for purchase.
